Just got back from 3 days of Spring skiing at Banff Sunshine. It is fantastic. A few things to note. It is located deep within Banff National Park, so not much around. Banff village is about s 20 minute drive. There are three main mountains with tons of trails. A lot for beginners but most of the good stuff is intermediate to advanced - whatever you want, lots of bowls, steeps, moguls, glades, super steep off piste. Also different than top American resorts, it's cheap. This is Vail - Aspen level for $100-150 (US) lift ticket. And you can get all kinds of deals if you ski multiple days. They do partner with IKON for 5-7 total days, making it an even better deal if you have the pass. There are three main mountains with Goats Head being more advanced, Lookout advanced and intermediate and Standish with the more mellow options. Parking is not great, but you may be able to get a spot early and during weekdays. Highly recommend just taking the free buses there and back. If you are wondering where can you take the family to a world class ski resort, not spend ridiculous amounts of money, and enjoy some of the best views on the planet- head to Banff Sunshine. And pop over to Norquay and Lake Louise if you want- all great ski areas.
Lots of mixed terrain, awesome views, fast lifts, great value
Not much apres, have to go back to Banff city

Great mountain especially when there's fresh POW. Conditions generally better than Lake Louise. As much of Sunshine is ungroomed My daughter band I are visiting from Colorado and Sunshine is a place I'll keep coming back to.
Wonderful skiing

Sunshine is a place, a gondola takes you from the parking to the base of other lifts. The many terrain pods offer everything from a crazy steep bowl to mellow open terrain and a few glades. However, getting from one pod to another can be difficult having to sacrifice a run to get to goat eye. When I went it was very foggy and visibility was a challenge in the upper elevation so I skied the smaller pods. The most vertical you will get in a run without going back down to the parking is 600m which is plenty but most lifts only have 200ish m vertical leading to short runs. I'd love to give it another try on a clear day, the upper mountain seems awesome!!
Isolated environement, Variability of runs, gondola ride to resort
Wierd on mountain flow and shorter vertical

Customer service is good, starting with a well staffed parking crew to optimize and organize the lot. Unparalleled views from the top (sorry Lake Louise). No wasted time traversing around the mountain to change lifts. All main lifts are high speed, including the Teepee Town enclosed/heated one. Excellent facilities for the bring your own lunch crowd at the main base and Goats Eye base.
Consistent snow conditions. Long season. Great customer service

Enjoy Sunshine for a day trip. The lift ticket prices are getting ridiculous.

One of the most underrated places. I have never been disappointed with variety of runs, snow coverage. Overall experience - one of the best.

I have been skiing Sunshine for years and every year it gets more and more crowded. Two days ago I was hit from behind by a skier going way too fast. There was blood but no major injuries. I was with my wife and child and very glad it was not them who were hit. Parent beware, this ski hill is very busy and I have seen other collisions there resulting in injury.
Consistent snow
Too crowded

Today I was skiing with my 7 years old son on Strawberry. A private coach (a male at 50-60yrs old) was teaching a lady to do S turn on a narrow area. They really should have found another wide area to practice this. My son just took two days of school (but he did much better job than that lady) and felt very nervous when passing them. I could feel his nervousness and tried to follow him closely, then the lady hit me and both of us fall down. While the coach pushed me on the ground for three minutes and yelled to me I should watch his client. I was really shocked and my son was scared too. You guys really need to do such practice in a wider area but not expect everybody to avoid you. I understand that his showing attitude was for more tips but it was a hurt to child who was watching everything. He didn’t want to ski any more after this and kept asking me why the coach yelled to us. Sunshine is a nice place and we really enjoyed the last few days here. My son’s coaches are also very professional and polite. But this gentlemen should understand not only your client needs your care, but every visitor should be treated equally.
